Murray Scholls library branch celebrates new children's room (060123)

Children and parents enjoy dancing during an interactive storytime session in the Murray Scholls Branch Library in 2015. With impending budget cuts, the Murray Scholls Library may be open just four days per week, and programming like storytime would be reduced.

Three of the seven days that the Murray Scholls Branch Library operates during a regular week may be shelved if the Beaverton City Council moves ahead with the next city budget as recommended.

After hearing an unprecedented number of public comments on the importance of the Murray Scholls Library, Beaverton’s budget committee discussed backing off on the cuts Wednesday, May 24. But committee members were unsuccessful in coming up with an alternative before recommending the budget to the City Council for final approval.
